Reflection 11/3/17

This week in my class we had lynda.com chapters 11 and 12 due by Friday. Thankful for me i was ahead the week before so i was already finishing chapter 11 after only 2 days into the week. That meant that i got the rest of the week to focus on chapter 12. From what i did i don’t think chapter 12 was as hard as i was thinking it was gonna be because i thought it would get harder at the end of the chapter but also i think it’s easier because you do have the guy helping you get the results you want. Another thing we did this week was that we had a test this week it was on chapter 3 which was little confusing to me but actually it turned out that i did pretty good! On the other hand that just means that we are starting this another chapter and doing all the outlines all over again and for me i don’t like doing them because i get myself confused a lot. I wish that during that time we could move and sit with a partner and do the worksheet together because i feel like it’s so much easier for me to understand when it’s not just me sitting there silently and doing the worksheet.

Flat vs Deep Website Hierarchy’s

The difference between a flat and a deep website is that a flat website is a vertical level organized into more sub levels that means that the flat is only on a single column and but is only wide but short benches off. For explain its structured like a family tree on how one comes off another. While on the other hand a deep website is a lot of the same information but broken down into a lot of different ways. You would use each type of hierarchy when you are talking about a more broad topic you use flat and when you are talking more into detail that’s when you would use deep hierarchy. Pro and cons about flat and deep websites are that they can make it easier to discover, help direct you to the information you want  and it makes reading easier when you can scan. A lot of the structures are set up so that when creating a hierarchy they make sure that it is visual for the people to see. Then the cons are that when you reader is trying to get information they may not be able to snap easily, the topic may not be clear.

Reflection 10/27/17

This week we got another assignment in class which was that we had to complete chapter 10 from Lynda at the end of the week and at the beginning of the week we had to have our zombie projects done. For my zombies project I’m really happy with the way it turned out, I think I did a good job of blending the stitches in darker to match my neck skin tone. Something I could have worked on was maybe making myself look scarier. Something I could have done if I really wanted to challenge myself was put a knife into my neck or something that makes it pop a little more. I am really pleased with my background. I’m happy I picked what I picked, it was a lot different then everyone else. For my zombie background I took a picture that was a whole bunch of pumpkins that were carved into jack-o-lanters but still looked cool with the green gradient filler on it. Going into the zombie project I wasn’t really sure about how much I was going to like it and if i was really going to enjoy it but after completing i think it was one of the best projects i got to have fun and explore with my own face.

20 Ideas for Your Website Homepage Conten

The goal of the website homepage is to inspire more people to come view your work less than not enjoy it so they skip through it. On the homepage you really want one goal to be that the visitor sees your logo that mean that if they enjoy something you did they know where to go back to and where to reference it from. One thing that is a good thing to incorporate into your homepage is a blog your readers like to be updated on what you website is to show. With blogging it lets you post everything that your displaying. If you would like for visual learner to understand better you can do a gallery which will allow you to put a gallery images of your home page. One last good ideas that is useful is when you have a lot of information that you have different pages for different parts you should have a search function. The search bar is gonna help your visitors understand where the information they are looking for is location and how they can reach it. When making a website if you put in your home page at least a blog page a gallery page and a search bar for someone to access all the information I believe you can have a successful homepage.

Reflection 10/20/17

This week we have done another chapter in Lyndia.com. In chapter 9 we learned how to use the magic wand tool and apply that to our images. We also used all three different lasso tools in Photoshop. This week we have also got a project that is due on Tuesday which will be taking the skills we have learned on Lynda and creating ourself to look like a zombie all scary looking and gross. The zombie project is something fun and creative to but have the free hands on but I’m also not looking forward to have to show the class if we are. I really do enjoy Photoshop and being able to know that you can take a picture and improve it if necessary. Another thing we are doing in class is creating a good design brief. We had to pick a website out of the choices and grab the information from the website and explain how we could improve it so it would be a more useful site. For mine i had the website that was about a family that breeds huskies and then tries to sell them away. In my option i like the website was pretty bad and if i was to remake it i would keep it more simple and not overdo it like they had it played out.

7 Basics to Create a Good Design Brief

Design brief is important because its the part that puts you website all together and makes it look so nice. What makes a design brief a vital is that when making it you make sure that everything flows together nice and smoothly. For example you can could write in the margins some notes and headers that are important for you reader to know. You could also highlight key words to make them stand out for better understanding. Design brief is also what helps you, the designer know exactly what is needed for your website to be complete. Things that should be included in a good design brief are specific details about the product you are wanting to be putting up for sale or a service. You should not have things that are gonna make costumers wanna buy from you. You always wanna be having good format so when anyone of any age is looking at your website, you have it in context that they can understand. Another good thing to have when making the design is a really nice and neat project outline that you can go back to and refer too. Something people don’t like are three column layout, slideshows or even certain features on the way you design.

Writing for the Web

My writing on a web is important to the web because the web is where you get to understand information and then be able to read and be able to explain it. Somethings you could write to have all you work it onto one page. On the web people when they are looking for information by just scanning a story because all everyone wants it keywords. If nothing get the eye they you will lose a visitor. Some way you can make friendly content is use your words, chunck your content,  load the information, use pronouns, active voice, short sentences, organize yourself like numbers and letter lists. Heading and subheads which will explain how to pop out the section because you will have a big header you show where something knew starts and something old ends. Also you wanna make your site look nice, if it looks nice then people are gonna take the time to look at it and not skip it like always. Some pictures that you can find some really make you stick out and they can be really pretty so some but not to much creative it your web site. The inverted pyramid is know to other writers to spread information.

Reflection 10/6/17

This week we had the assignment that we had to finish Chapter 5 and 6 on Photoshop from lydia.com. With that Chapter being due on Friday my teacher pushed our photo collage back from Friday until first thing Monday morning. The photo collage was all about what we liked. We got to put anything that we enjoy and are interested in. For mine I put the overwatch and Black ops 2 zombies logo because out of all the Black ops games BO2 zombies are the best zombies and I really enjoy playing overwatch.  In the middle at the bottom I have Logan Paul ,which is a you-tuber i like to watch, I think he’s really funny. For my favorite tv shows i put the Walking Dead which is on the top as my title but the word Netflix and in the letters are Walking Dead characters because the way i first started watching the Walking Dead was on Netflix with my friend. For clothes i have the word Pink because i can’t get enough of that store, I’m in there 24/7. I also put the sport that i love and that would have to be Volleyball. Lastly, My background was Bora Bora because when i get older i plan on making that my vacation.

Definition of: Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is also known as the “New internet” which can also be said as Internet 2.0. Web 2.0 is not used frequently all the time like others but it is still a good technology source. Web 2.0 has two different ways that it can be used. One way is the user-generated content that means that its more for people to use on their own and by themselves. On the other hand, cloud computing is more if you have a job and you need to use the internet through your work. Web 2.0 was caused because while the cable,DSL, FIOS prices were increasing in was easier for people to start using the web to browse for videos and images. During the 1990’s the web became more popular because there was good content and it was more active. With that everyone started using the web more because they were able to watch videos and if needed they would stop, play, or re watch the videos as much that was needed. I think teenager like myself participates in user-generated content because we are always on our phones using the web for social media. Even a lot of people including myself will be watching you tube which is an example of user-generated content.

Reflection 9/29/17

This week we have learned a lot more about Photoshop. In Photoshop we have learned that you can take any type of picture, for example if it’s angled diagonally you can use a tool to have in Photoshop on the left hand side where the tool bar is and have that photo  be straightened. For another example say if you took a picture of a picture in a frame you can crop that photo out of the frame and just have the picture if that is what you prefer. Throughout the week i think that lynda.com is a very useful site because it helps everyone in the class especially if they are a visual or even an auditory learner. This program makes it easier to understand how to use Photoshop because you’re doing exactly what he is instead of sitting at a desk and trying to read a textbook for hour. This lets you be more hands on and more visual. Next week we are putting the Photoshop skills we have learned into a project. We are going to be starting a project in Photoshop from the skills we just learned and I’m excited. I really do enjoy using Photoshop because if gives you your own creative mindset. No matter how you use Photoshop it’s always however you would like it, it never has to be exactly like anyone else’s!
